  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

  • Oil for frying (enough to fill the pot about 2 inches deep)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses with half of the flour, salt, and pepper until combined.
  2. Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with the remaining flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Shape the cheese mixture into balls (about 1 tablespoon each) and set aside.
  4. Roll each ball first in flour, then dip in eggs, and finally coat in breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat oil in a deep skillet to about 350°F (175°C). Fry the cheese balls in batches until golden brown (about 3 minutes).
  6. Drain on paper towels before serving hot.
