Instructions

  1. Warm the milk until lukewarm and combine with yeast in a mixing bowl; let sit until bubbly.
  2. Gradually mix in flour and granulated sugar until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  5. Prepare the filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the filling evenly, then roll tightly into a log and slice into 12 pieces.
  7. Arrange in a greased baking dish, let rise again for 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown; let cool slightly before decorating with icing mixed with black food coloring.
