  • Additional confectioners’ sugar for icing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cream together the butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Blend in vanilla extract.
  2. Gradually add flour, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  3. Shape dough into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  4. Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick. Use cookie cutters to create desired shapes.
  5. Place cutouts on ungreased baking sheets about an inch apart and bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool on wire racks.
  6. Decorate with icing made from confectioners’ sugar and milk as desired.
