Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz ribeye steak
  • 2 slices artisan sourdough or ciabatta bread
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 2 tbsp garlic butter (1 tbsp butter + 1 clove minced garlic)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the ribeye steak generously with salt and pepper. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  2. Slice the rested steak thinly against the grain.
  3. Spread garlic butter on one side of each slice of bread. Place one slice butter-side down in the skillet, layer on sliced steak and cheddar cheese, then top with another slice of bread (butter-side up).
  4. Grill until golden brown on one side (about 3-4 minutes), then carefully flip and grill until the cheese melts and both sides are crispy.
  5. Serve immediately while warm.
