Tofu “Steak” with Chimichurri

  • 14 oz firm tofu (pressed and sliced into 1-inch steaks)
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (divided)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley (finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt (to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Press tofu between paper towels to remove moisture; let sit for 15 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, mix 2 tablespoons olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Coat the tofu steaks in the mixture and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook tofu steaks for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
  4. For chimichurri, combine parsley, oregano, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, red chili flakes, remaining olive oil, salt, and pepper in a bowl; stir well.
  5. Serve grilled tofu steaks topped with chimichurri sauce.
