Method
Preparing the Base
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the Saltine crackers in a single layer.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a boil.
- Once boiling, let it cook for 3-4 minutes without stirring until it thickens slightly.
- Pour the toffee mixture evenly over the Saltine crackers, spreading it gently to cover all the crackers.
Baking and Topping
- Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, until bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let them sit for a couple of minutes until softened.
- Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee layer.
- In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the chocolate layer.
- Let the toffee cool completely, then break it into pieces and serve.
