Ingredients
  

For the Base
  • 1 box Saltine crackers about 40 crackers
  • 1 cup unsalted butter divided
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
For the Topping
  • 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Method
 

Preparing the Base
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the Saltine crackers in a single layer.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a boil.
  4. Once boiling, let it cook for 3-4 minutes without stirring until it thickens slightly.
  5. Pour the toffee mixture evenly over the Saltine crackers, spreading it gently to cover all the crackers.
Baking and Topping
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, until bubbly and golden brown.
  2. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let them sit for a couple of minutes until softened.
  3. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee layer.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the chocolate layer.
  5. Let the toffee cool completely, then break it into pieces and serve.
