For the Base
  • 1 loaf French bread cubed
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage cooked and crumbled
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk whole or 2%
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
For the Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Method
 

Prepare the Casserole
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed French bread, cooked sausage, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and sausage mixture, stirring gently to combine.
  5. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish and spread evenly.
Bake the Casserole
  1. Sprinkle the remaining cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top of the casserole.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the casserole is set and the top is golden brown.
  3. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
