Ingredients

For the Base
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water about 110°F
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
For the Topping
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup jalapenos sliced, fresh or pickled
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped chives for garnish

Method

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add the flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Assemble the Focaccia
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a greased baking sheet. Stretch it out to fit the sheet.
  3. Spread the softened cream cheese evenly over the surface of the dough.
  4. Sprinkle the sliced jalapenos and shredded cheddar cheese on top of the cream cheese layer.
  5. Use your fingers to create dimples all over the focaccia surface.
Bake the Focaccia
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  2. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing.
  3. Garnish with chopped chives before serving.
